FIRMIOR
Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC Classico Superiore 2025
The backbone of Verdicchio. Uncompromising.
Firmior is the Latin comparative of firmus: stronger, more resolute, more steadfast. It is the word the Romans used for something that does not bend under pressure.
We chose this name deliberately. When we left our country, our careers and the comfort of our familiar life to begin again on a vineyard in Marche, we needed exactly this kind of firmness. A quiet, daily kind of firmness: the strength to keep going when things are difficult, to learn from the beginning, to work with our hands, and to choose the long road instead of the easy one.
This is the same path we have chosen in winemaking.
FIRMIOR comes from old Verdicchio vines grown organically on a south-east facing hillside, 350 to 400 metres above sea level. The Adriatic breeze, limestone-rich soils and strong day-night temperature range give the wine its natural freshness, tension and saline finish.
Everything is done with restraint. The grapes are hand-harvested, gently pressed and vinified in reduction to preserve aromatic purity. The wine then ages for five months in concrete on fine lees. There is no oak, no shortcuts and no unnecessary intervention.
The result is a Verdicchio that is precise, energetic and deeply drinkable: a wine built on tension rather than weight.
Why FIRMIOR?
Old vines and altitude
Vines over 20 years old, planted at 350 to 400 metres above sea level, give the wine freshness, depth and a distinctive vertical character.
Organic farming and hand-harvested grapes
We choose a more demanding path in the vineyard: certified organic farming, manual work and careful selection of the grapes.
Concrete, fine lees, zero oak
Five months in concrete on fine lees give texture and precision while preserving the pure identity of Verdicchio.
A screw cap, chosen for ageing
We deliberately chose a screw cap, even though for a small winery it is a more complex and expensive decision. FIRMIOR has a very low pH and strong natural acidity, which means it has excellent ageing potential. The screw cap helps protect the wine from the risk of cork taint during storage, preserving its freshness, precision and evolution over time.
