Marche Fiano IGT 2025

An ancient grape rediscovered in the heart of Central Italy.

In the hills of Maiolati Spontini — a territory historically devoted to Verdicchio — we found something unexpected.
A small vineyard, almost forgotten, planted with Fiano, one of Italy’s oldest cultivated white grapes.

We chose not to blend it.
We chose to listen to it.

Apiana is the ancient name of Fiano, already mentioned by Pliny the Elder in the 1st century AD.
Its aroma was said to be so intense that it attracted bees — apis in Latin — giving the variety its name.

Today, this millennia-old grape is rare in the Marche.
Here, it becomes a wine of quiet identity and precision.

Origin

Only two hectares of south-facing vineyard at 300 meters above sea level.
Hand-harvested fruit, selected cluster by cluster.

A small island of Fiano in a sea of Verdicchio.

ROOT is among the very few wineries in the region to vinify it in purity — not as an aromatic addition, but as a voice of its own.

Winemaking

A short 3-hour maceration directly in the press preserves aromatic clarity and structure.
Fermentation occurs at controlled temperature, without forcing the process.

The wine rests for two months on fine lees with gentle bâtonnage, gaining depth while remaining precise and clean.

Nose
White flowers, pear and white-fleshed fruit, with a delicate honey nuanc
